35th Annual Summer Campout
at
Newville Lions' Fairgrounds
Newville, PA
July 28th through 30th, 2006
Campout and Board Meeting
Post Event Information:
The summer campout this year was held July 28-30, at the Newville Lions Fairgrounds in Newville, PA. The sun god was once again kind and we only experienced a little rain in the wee hours over the weekend. Temperatures were high but so were spirits. Those that attended took the opportunity to get out and socialize the dogs they brought in the early morning events. Cani-cross, gig and bike-jor classes were run on a short 100-yard track. Results from these events may be found both in the newsletter and on the website as well as pictures on the website. The silent auction brought good attendance and great prices for those interested in the donated items. Thank you very much to all who donated items. Our speaker for the weekend was Jan Bootz Dittmar, who was accompanied by her daughter Jena. Jena even participated in our morning events. The Dittmar ladies gave a wonderful presentation where Jan discussed the secrets to her success, RUM! No, not the alcohol, but rather the method by which she trains. Jan's method revolves around consistency in everything from running itself to feeding times prior to races. Jan also noted her personal relationship with each dog as integral to his or her performance. Thank you so much Jan and Jena for coming to Newville, PA.
All at the campout enjoyed a bountiful meal Saturday evening, no one left feeling hungry. If you were not there you missed out on the best apple pie ever, I would say I saved you some but I believe John finished it off. Many thanks to the venders who came and set up in the heat. We appreciate your time, efforts and merchandise. A HUGE THANKS to Nancy Sheely, her family and the large number of support volunteers for this event. We all had a great time and you made it possible.

Event Organizer: Nancy Sheely, dp-sheely@msn.comEvent Information:
This is a Fairground, not a Campground:
The site reminds me of Woodward in the way the center is open; we will camp along the sides under the tree line.
No Showers:
Hot and cold running water in the bathrooms, but no showers.
Electric:
Electric is available, but here is the catch... The fairground has electric poles set in the center, with outlets. We are camping along the edges so you need to bring 50' to 100' extension cords. I am not charging for electric sites, but I still need to know if you need hook-ups. Poles and Hook-ups are limited, and only available in certain areas.
Event Rules:
NO ACOHOLIC BEVERAGES!
All PSDC Rules Apply
Racing, sportsmanship, safety, PA, leash laws and poop pick-up apply. Poop bags can be deposited in dumpster on way out driveway.
