2012 PSDC Elections

Elections will be held at the Spring Meeting, May 5, 2012 for the following positions:


President
Treasurer
(3) Board Seats

 

Candidates and nominations made should be sent to either member of the Election Committee:

Also, additional candidate nominations may be taken from the floor during the election process.

In accordance with PSDC's by-laws, statements from candidates are published in the newsletter.  Statements must be received by April 1st to the newsletter editor Joy at howlinhuskieskennels@verizon.net for the April newsletter publication.

Candidates are NOT required to submit a statement.

In order to vote you must be a Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club, Inc. member.  The membership form is located on this website.

Only senior or family members in good standing are eligible to vote.  Each Senior member can cast one (1) vote.  A Family membership receives two (2) votes.  Junior and Associate members of the club are not eligible to vote in club elections.


 

 JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

President:

General Description of Position:

Oversees all club events and races; presides over all general membership meetings and board meetings. Supervises all other club officers, board members, and other appointed or elected persons in the performance of their jobs.

Qualifications:

1.                    Excellent broad knowledge of sled dog competition, (preferably
                      by actively participating in one or more events).

2.                    Should have a minimum of 2 years experience as a club officer
                      or board member.

3.                    Knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order.

4.                    Ability to speak in front of groups.

5.                    General supervisory skills, good organizer, and communication skills.

Treasurer:

General Descript of Position:

This title is held by a person who actually does three jobs in addition to that of being a director. Those jobs are that of being treasurer (handles receiving and payment of cash), bookkeeper, and controller (overseer of club assets).

Qualifications:

Individual should have knowledge of basic double entry bookkeeping system, have ability maintain ledgers, and have the knowledge of how to create a financial report. Persistence is an advantage, since considerable prodding is sometimes necessary to gather information.

ELECTED OFFICES

Officers and Their Duties

 

President:

a.                    Oversee all the Club functions.

b.                    Supervise all race related Club activities.

c.                    Nominate persons to vacancies which occur in the elected
                      positions, such nominations subject Executive Board approval.

d.                    Plan executive and general membership meetings; such planning
                      subject to Executive Board approval

e.                    Officiate and act as parliamentarian at all Executive Board and 
                      General membership meetings.

f.                     Sign all contracts on behalf of the Club.

g.                    Appoint the Club newsletter editor and webmaster, such
                      appointment subject to Executive Board approval.

Treasurer:

a.                    Manage all club monies; including receiving, holding and
                      paying (all payments to be approved by the Executive Committee).

b.                   Keep complete, accurate and organized records of all Club financial
                     transactions.

c.                    Quarterly Treasurer’s reports shall be published in the Club publication(s).

Directors (Board Member):

a.                   Serve as liaison between the Executive Board and the General membership.

b.                   Participate in the Club decision making process as directed by the By-Laws.

c.                   Perform duties as requested by the President.

d.                   Elect a presiding officer(or president) from their own ranks in the
                     event of the temporary absence or incapacitation(or permanent loss)
                     of both the President and Vice-President.
